Sealed terrariums have a removable lid while the open terrariums do not.
Closed terrariums are mostly designed to be self-contained. Not entirely self-contained as these are living plants and require care to stay happy and healthy. So, that being said, a closed terrarium creates it’s own little environment. Usually, these plants are fond of moisture and humidity. This is what gathers in their vessels and keeps them happy. You will need to set them up to win of course, so soil, pumice and a variety of different things need to be placed into your terrariums before you start.
Here is a list of things you will need…
- A glass or plastic container
- Rocks, if you choose
- Moss, if you choose
- Soil (growing medium)
- Closed terrarium plants that won’t overgrow (generally miniature or dwarf plants)
- Spoon for placing soil as well as
- Long tweezers for putting materials into vessel
