What is a Closed Terrarium?
By definition…
Terrariums are a small, enclosed environment for certain plants. Think of it as a mini-greenhouse. The containers for terrarium gardens are typically transparent, such as glass or plastic.
Sealed terrariums have a removable lid while the open terrarium does not.
Closed terrariums are mostly designed to be self-contained. Not entirely self-contained as these are living plants and require care to stay happy and healthy. So, that being said, a closed terrarium creates it’s own little environment. Usually, these plants are fond of moisture and humidity. This is what gathers in their vessels and keeps them happy. You will need to set them up to win of course, so soil, pumice and a variety of different things need to be placed into your terrariums before you start.
Here is a list of things you will need…
A glass or plastic container
Rocks, if you choose
Moss, if you choose
Soil (growing medium)
Plants that won’t overgrow (generally miniature or dwarf plants)
Spoon for placing soil
Long tweezers for putting materials into vessel
