Historic garden plant with succulent foliage. In winter, forms rosettes of smooth, bright red leaves, shading to darker at the tips and green toward the center. In summer, the leaves range in color from olive green to rich burgundy, and everything in between. The name mean “aged man”. Hens & Chicks grow best in well-drained, gravelly soil that is not wet in winter. Drought tolerant. Requires little water once established. Great in containers and rock gardens.
