Description
The Platycerium grande, Giant Staghorn Fern, produces two types of fronds, both of which can grow to impressive sizes. The sterile fronds, which can reach up to two meters in length, develop into shield-like structures with two lobes and long, hanging “fingers.” Great for hanging baskets or slab mounting.
Staghorn ferns grow best in a well-drained, moist, long-fiber sphagnum moss. Allow to dry slightly between waterings. This fern is winter dormant so reduce water but maintain humidity. Feed with a dilute fertilizer monthly during active growth from May to September. Protect from frost!
