Description

Gynura aurantiaca, sometimes called Purple Passion Plant or Velvet Plant, is a lovely trailing houseplant with shimmery green, fuzzy leaves covered in spectacular purple hairs. The purple leaf color is more pronounced when exposed to bright light. Displays small, orange flowers with a less than desirable scent.

Give this plant a lot of bright, indirect light, but avoid scorching sun rays. Prefers an average, well-drained soil that is kept moist from Spring to Fall. Reduce watering in winter. The foliage should be kept dry to avoid rot. Purple Passion Plant makes an excellent spiller plant in a mixed basket or container. It can be used as an annual outside or kept indoors as a houseplant. Protect from cold weather.
