Description
Asarum europaeum, or European Wild Ginger, is a slow growing, herbaceous perennial that displays rounded, glossy green foliage on very short stems. Interesting purple-brown flowers bloom near the ground and are often hidden by the foliage. Roots smell like ginger.
Thrives in humus rich, moist, well-drained soil. Perfect for naturalizing in woodland gardens or planted in raised beds or containers, where the flowers can be enjoyed.
