Description
Mahonia aquifolium, or Oregon Grape, features lustrous holly-like, dark green foliage that turns purplish-red in winter. New growth has bronze-red coloring. Vivid yellow flowers followed by small clusters of blue-black berries in fall. Deer resistant. Native plant of the Pacific Northwest.
Prefers moist, organic, slightly acidic soil. Oregon Grape is an excellent shrub for mass plantings as hedge or screen, or planted singly for color accent.
