This product is no longer available from Little Prince. This product page has been kept for informational purposes.

Are you impatiently awaiting Spring? We have put together this collection of 5 perennial plants that make excellent companions, putting out their blooms in late winter to early springtime.

The gorgeous blue blooms (of Veronica ‘Georgia Blue’ and Lithodora diffusa ‘Heavenly Blue’) and purple blooms (of Aubretia ‘Audrey™ Purple Shades’ and Viola ‘Heartthrob’) provide lovely contrast against the bright yellow blades (Acorus gramineus ‘Ogon’).

Plant in a mixed container or in your garden border. The blooms will grace your garden or patio with colorful blooms for long lasting color. Enjoy!

Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' - Golden Sweet Flag (3.5" Pot)

Acorus gramineus 'Ogon' is an evergreen grass with arching, sedge-like, brilliant yellow-striped leaves. Foliage is sweetly fragrant.

Grows well in boggy soil. Ornamental Grasses are low-maintenance and grow well in most soil types. They look beautiful, adding color, height and movement to your garden. Golden Sweet Flag is an excellent companion plant with contrasting foliage.

Aubrieta 'Audrey Purple Shades' - Rock Cress (4" Pot)

Aubrieta 'Audrey Purple Shades' has larger flowers and more vigorous growth than other Aubrieta. Masses of flowers in purple shades cover a low mounding, semi-evergreen perennial.

Best in moderately fertile, slightly alkaline, well-drained soil. Rock Cress looks beautiful cascading over walls or between stepping stones. Cut back after flowering to maintain a dense habit.

Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' (4" Pot)

Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' displays a dense, evergreen mat of hairy, dark green, rosemary-like foliage. Bright royal blue flowers appear in summer.

Likes any well-drained soil. This low growing perennial will form a trailing mat of foliage and is a good selection for rock walls and containers.

Veronica peduncularis 'Georgia Blue' - Speedwell (3.5" Pot)

Veronica peduncularis 'Georgia Blue' displays masses of rich blue flowers covering a low-growing carpet of glossy, dark green foliage. Leaves take on a bronzy-purple color in the fall. Repeat bloomer.

Easily grown in any well-drained soil with regular water. Speedwell is a great choice for easy groundcover, stabilizing slopes or mixed containers. Tolerates varying amounts of foot traffic.

Viola 'Heartthrob' - Hardy Violet USPP #19,996 (4.5" Pot)

Viola 'Heartthrob' features heart-shaped leaves with burgundy centers and bright green leaf edges. Charming violet flowers appear before the leaves in early spring.

Prefers cool, moist, well-drained soil with regular water. Hardy Violet makes a dainty groundcover or border plant. Good plant for woodland gardens.
